It's been a busy week.

We had a good week, both busy and productive. We did some (you can see not all) weeding in the backyard and Erik seeded and fertilized to try and revive the lawn and start some grass growth in outer edges. Here he is after we decided to test and adjust the sprinklers, "Honey . . . I got a little wet."We also had a major Home Depot trip and got new outlets and switches for the house as well as a bunch of new light fixtures to replace a few dated (ugly) ones and add some new. Hopefully the electrician can come some time this week and get started!

On Friday, Ben & Pei came up for the afternoon! We went out for a short hike at Wind Wolves and saw this beauty before we even got to the trail. She was one of a pair and I noticed as I blew up the picture a little that you can see teats--they must have young somewhere around there. It was so much fun to see the coyotes; her partner wandered off out of sight when we stopped, but she was intent on something on the ground and was still there when we continued on!We heard lots of frogs and Ben caught this one.Wind Wolves is only open for a short time in the afternoon, but we had perfect weather for a hike. This picture is kind of a "Where's Waldo?" of lizards--can you spot it?
You have to click on this picture to appreciate the full intensity of this lizard's belly.
Awww . . . Erik heading up the trail
We saw a pair of quail on a dead tree.
And found this tiny lizard on a trail marker!
Back at home Pei tried out the hammock (with a little help from Thomas).
There has to be some joke about how many men it takes to get charcoal burning, but it eludes me at the moment. ;-)
A little taste of home
We decided to eat out on the patio, and got out an extra table to pile the food on. I think we should have invited more people!! In addition to the brats we had some Veggie Sammies, a wonderful concoction introduced to us by our friends Brent & Julie. Picture a chunk of french bread with a modified alioli, sun dried tomatoes and feta . . . then add a topping of grilled veggies (zucchini, mushrooms, onions, peppers)--so good! A sad crew inside with their boring dinner while we ate exciting food without them . . . Sam was there too, but left as soon as I got the camera. We had a lot of fun before Ben & Pei had to head home and Erik had to head to work!

In the morning I was up and off before Erik got home; I got to spend the day with the church youth group at Magic Mountain (Six Flags)! Hopefully I'll get pictures sorted and post some on Facebook for the kids tomorrow. In other news, after taking a little time to read about it and attending a talk this afternoon, I find that I am a Non-Calvinist. Huh. Who knew?

And now I'm off to bed--it's a whole new week starting tomorrow and there are still wildflowers blooming up in the mountains! ;-)

I'm enjoying your pictures of all the California spring beauty! And I love the picture of those two guys grinning at the charcoal grill!
