Houseguests :-)

Well, we've been busy since I posted last! Here is a quick look at what we've been doing:

We celebrated the wedding of a friend from church--it was a beautiful day and we wish Christy & Steve many, many years of happiness! I didn't take my camera, but doesn't my sweetheart clean up nice? :-)Erik's birthday has also come and gone since my last post. We didn't have a party this year--it kind of snuck up on me. But we went to a double feature at the theatre during the week with our friend Bill (Iron Man 2 and The A-Team), had a gourmet dinner with friends (posole, fresh steamed beans, spanish rice and cream cheese flan), and had a quiet celebration at home as well.On Father's Day and the following day, we were blessed with a visit from Erik's dad and brother Michael. They came all the way from Tennessee for a rolling visit of California friends and relatives. We had a great time with them; wish they lived closer!
They came on the heels of visiting Patrick & Debra (and came bearing gifts of potato salad, deviled eggs and Santa Maria strawberries, mmm . . . )

We had fun talking and looking at pictures and playing games like Double Quick . . .
and agonizing over Take it Easy (Michael looks more triumphant than agonized here).
We also enjoyed an Afro-Celtic concert put on by the Art Council of Kern and held at our church facility. Sounds strange, but it was a fun show and nice that they could meet a few of our friends. Here are the boys showing their dance moves afterward.
Ruddy boys: Mike, Michael & Erik
They left late Monday night as Erik headed off to work, hoping for good traffic at the off-time. They made pretty good time to San Diego, so I guess the plan worked. We were sorry to see them go, but so glad for the visit!

On Tuesday we had a potluck with our small group before taking a break for the summer. There were lots of leftovers, so a few of us decided to have a Leftovers & Games Night at our house later that week.
"Can we do a funny face one now?"
Buzz Word is a fun game--I think we need to add it to our game closet! Not to gloat or anything, but the girls definitely squeaked out a win just under the wire. :-D
One more day of June and then the July craziness ensues! Please expect posts to be (even more) sporadic or to more honest, potentially non-existent until August.

We look forward to a visit from Mom & Noelle as they come south for Ben's & Pei's Wedding, then the actual nuptial event, followed by a visit from Dad & Jackie. On the heels of that we will be packing up the car and heading to Wisconsin with Noelle & Andy, stopping in Oklahoma for a visit to the Coffin Family. Whew! Love you much. Thanks for reading!

Oh! Quick shout out: Happy Birthday to Debra and to Kari, and Happy Anniversary to Sal & Steve!

We Interrupt the Regularly Scheduled Broadcast for a Picnic in the Park

So, I totally forgot about posting these pictures in a timely fashion. I started a new folder for my photos and this picnic was the last batch in the old folder and - oops. So pretend it's the very end of May . . .

The men were all being manly and eating meat at a BBQ with other men from church, so a couple of friends and I decided to have a picnic in a park.

This is my friend Julie:

This is my friend Becky:
And here is the whole crew! After pizza and fruit, Meredith and Lili went to play in the sand.MeredithLil

Then it was time for cookies. Mmm . . .
Followed by a scavenger hunt for things that could be found in a park (they made the list earlier)

Swinging--love that laugh!
"Look, Miss Christel."
"Fuffly!"
(yes, I spelled that right--the little white stuffed poodle is NOT named Fluffy, it is called Fuffly)
Good times :-)

Walk, Games & Birthdays

Okay, so you're getting way more posts this month than you have been!

Having done the house tour separately, here are a few pictures from our visit to see Noelle, Andy and the kids.

We took a lovely walk by the (now familiar) creek near their house. We took one of Noelle standing in the hole while I towered over her too, but it's on her camera. The whole crew: Noelle, Andy, Erik, Collin, Megan
There was a pun that went with the stick in his ear (I'm not sure how long he had it in there waiting to be asked about it); sadly, I cannot remember what the very punny pun was!
Game Night!
I miss this game! It's called "Moods" and it's quite fun. You have to read random phrases from the box in whatever mood/emotion you roll. Here's Noelle feeling a little iffy about her task.
But she did it well! ;-D
We also played Cranium. Here is Erik being a mad scientist . . .
and Megan creating a clue out of play dough . . .
and Andy trying to guess what Collin is drawing with his eyes closed. Fun! :-)
Sunday was Megan's birthday and she woke to decorations!
After church some friends and family came over to celebrate and eat yummy food.

Happy Birthday to Megan!
'Ware the knife, Erik . . .
I think this family likes chocolate . . . but I'm not really sure (yes, that's Andy drizzling chocolate syrup on chocolate cake with chocolate chips and chocolate frosting and, I think, chocolate ice cream).

Goodbye! See you again!
Also, a quick Happy Birthday to other birthday girls of the weekend, Kirsten on Saturday and Kate on Monday!!
