Santa Margarita Lake

First, thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and words--here, on e-mail and in cards. You've been really wonderful. I miss my girl a lot--she would have loved this past weekend! It was great to be outside and with good friends. :)

We saw egrets, herons, vultures and ducks galore... wild turkeys, deer, fish jumping... heard bullfrogs and crickets... took a couple of great hikes... and spent an afternoon with a rented boat. It was *happy sigh* good. And the fresh air tasted lovely. So did dinner cooked over a fire and the s'mores! :-D

She's gone

Ben called just as I was leaving work to say that Sophi wouldn't get up. When I got home we had a little snuggle time, and then took her to the vet. The mass had burst.

Prayers for Puppy

On Sunday night I was laying on the floor with Sophi and discovered a very large, hard mass in her stomach. We went to the vet this morning and they took x-rays; I was finally able to take the poor stressed girl home a little after 5pm.

Sophi has a large tumor on her spleen, which is probably cancerous. It's so large, it's pushing a bunch of her insides up toward her backbone; this is also why she's been eating less and feeling so much thinner. If the tumor bursts, which it will do eventually if left alone, she will bleed to death. They can try to remove it, but won't know if that's possible until they go in. If it's not... likely they would put her to sleep on the table. If it IS, they will remove it and do a biopsy.

I'm posting this here because I can't talk to everyone about it. Please don't call. Just pray.
