Wind Wolves Preserve

On Friday, which was a gorgeous day, we made plans with some friends to go to Wind Wolves Preserve on Saturday, providing the weather was as nice the following day. We woke up to yucky grey skies and cold, damp weather. But it cleared up around noon and turned into a great day to tromp around. This is driving into the preserve. Big sky. And you can see that it is a strange mix of a kind of prairie and desert . . . As you can see, the wildflowers are starting to bloom. With the wet year we've been having, we're looking forward to a spectacular display this year!!I was fascinated by all the colors of lichen on this rock.Hannah and DavidLily

After doing the Wildflower Loop, we took a short hike along the canyon.

They come in purple too!
I've already forgotten the name of this little beauty

there's bound to be some goo!David getting ready to make the run down the slope

It was a great hike--we look forward to going back!
